March 1, 2022. It’s a new month so let’s start with some NEW products in the Teaspoon of Fun Shop. In my studio today, I can’t help but think of the people in Ukraine and all that they are going through. Today’s card was created with them in mind and sharing love from home. Our heart and prayers are with them. If you would like to share your cards on social media to show support for Ukraine, use the hashtag #CardsForUkraine. Their colors are blue and yellow (the color of the Ukranian Flag) and their national flower is the Sunflower. Let’s take a look at what I picked for you today…
Let’s work on the background first. Tape your Watercolor Paper down to the Make Art Stay-tion using our Sticky Note Tape Roll, Saturate your paper with water from your Silicone Dispenser using your 1″ square brush, Now fill the wells of your Flower Palette or Paw Palette with water and add drops of the Distress Oxide Reinkers. The amount of drops will be led by how intense you want the color to be. Just lay the colors on and watch them spider out. I also used my Tim Holtz lnk Blower to feather it out more. Set this aside to dry and we’ll work on the top layer next leaving it taped onto your Make Art Stay-tion. If you need to dry it faster, use your heat tool to dry it.
You will want to cut out the Honeycomb Fancy Die first. Then using the Blending Brush and working from the center outward, burnish in the Distress Oxide Ink colors. I started with the lightest yellow and finished off with the darkest brown (colors and links are below). When you are done, use your #6 brush and tap water drops onto this layer. This will react with the Distressed Oxide colors leaving some “water” drops. Set this layer aside.
Next cut out your bees and flowers from the Bees and Flowers Fancy Die. Color with COPIC Markers (all links to purchase the copics are below in the menu). Pop up this layer with our Crafty Foam Tape and our 3D Foam Strips. Use your Crease Tool to smooth the layer down. Then I added the Friend Greeting for the sentiment.
